I met a really interesting young woman today, and knew immediately that I wanted to do her portrait. With only a short time to work, I went to an outside area of my studio and set her against muted texture. Since I was a little rushed I didn’t have time to preconceive what kind of shot I wanted, but quickly decided a simple, direct portrait would work perfectly. Though I often direct my models, giving them something to think about so that I can record the emotion, I let Crystal do her own thing. It was a wonderful exercise to just shoot, and capture her personality without any input.
