In a total departure from anything so far, today’s action shot is a dream come true. An avid sport bike enthusiast, at the racetrack I’ll slide my knee along the pavement at 80+ MPH, but don’t have much stunt in me. The things these people do on bikes on is epic. I’ve always wanted to photograph something like this, but until today, never really had, or created the opportunity.

Leaving my studio in the afternoon, I immediately noticed the tortured screams of sportbikes, and swung the car around to see what was happening. A block from my studio, a bike club is using one of the deserted streets for stunting. Flagging down one of the riders, we agree to have me come backĀ  in a while and take some photos. When I return the group has exploded. There are lowered street cars, the beer is flowing, the tunes are cranked, and an amateur music video for a local rapper is about to begin! I immediately fall to the ground and start shooting the riders as they fly by me. Seeing this, two guys approach me, and once I explain what I’m doing, am invited over to participate and continue shooting. I love how people, in the right situation, react to a camera. Here I am, a 42 year old caucasian male, hanging out and photographing a Hispanic bike club, their friends, and a rapper. It’s not that we’re so different. Quite the opposite. We all love bikes and cars, great music, and having a good time. I only mention it, because once again, I find myself in a situation that probably would have never happened had it not been for Project1. The funny thing is that these guys were amazed at how close I was to the bikes as they sped by. I always say, I’ll do whatever it takes to get the shot.
