Today was a hard day and I really didn’t want to go out and shoot. As that wasn’t an option I set out about 8:30 tonight and began driving around downtown LA. One of the first things I saw was this building, and what really struck me was how white the lights are. Daylight fluorescent bulbs are really striking against the dark of night. I was also struck by the beautiful soft brown of the building itself. Something I had never noticed during the day. I’ve always been intrigued by images that detail the play of line and shape in the common things around us every day. This is my first time shooting something with that exact idea in mind.
