A great way to work, today’s shoot provided something for everyone. New head shots for the model, close-ups for the make-up artist, and something for me and Project1. The make-up is so beautiful that in the next few days I’m going to include some outtakes in the “Other Photographs” section of the site. Our stunning model, Rome Apple Shadanloo, works as an actress, artist, and model and brought a huge range of “faces” and emotion to the photography. At one point I asked her to be sad and she almost immediately began to cry. Experiences like that are part of what keep photography fresh and alive for me. I always say, photographing people can be done one of two ways; as one who documents, or one who actually directs, as in film making. Though both disciplines are wonderful, my roots are in the latter. I’ll always love the ability to create something from nothing in a controlled environment.

Once the other work was done in the main studio I moved Rome into the service elevator and let her play. There were a lot of wonderful images but this is the one that really grabbed me and is my shot of the day.
